Fuidheigh, Stool | Ewan Thomson
This one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted stool is the result of an extended collaboration between Skye-based craftsman Ewan Thomson and Glasgow-based artist, Martin Campbell, as part of Campbell's residency at The Admiral’s House. Their brief was to create an ATLAS Edition that responded to their individual skills and their experiences of the environment whilst in Skye.
The stool is handmade by Ewan Thomson and is inspired by the black 'basalt columns' of Skye. It is made from pine, spruce and larch offcuts of various lengths and glued and pinned together with some extra stainless steel bars inside for added strength. The stool was stained black with small surface gaps filled with a pigmented resin and then waxed to finish.
