These decorative works take their form from the island’s varied plant life and in particular seven different habitats: bog, coast, freshwater loch, limestone, moor, mountain and woodland. Alongside these artworks a special map has been made that offers an imaginative survey of seven different botanical walks around these habitats. The routes vary in difficulty and duration, each offering a unique insight into the flora of this beautiful island.

A limited edition, signed colouring book featuring the original seven botanical drawings by Frances Priest. She studied Ceramics at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1998, before completing a post-graduate diploma the following year. Priest’s work explores pattern and ornament in decorative art and design; where it is found, how it is used and the craft processes involved in its production. She creates intricately decorated ceramic forms, exploring and reinterpreting languages of ornament from different cultures, places and periods in history.

Priest also makes work in response to people and places, using her interests as a platform from which to develop new work. This approach has led to projects in varied and sometimes unexpected settings, from a Tudor banqueting room in Sheffield, to an underpass in Cumbernauld. Priest regularly exhibits work in the UK and overseas and her work is represented in national collections including, the National Museums of Scotland, Edinburgh, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

We are currently offering two limited edition, signed colouring books featuring the original seven botanical drawings by Frances Priest for £20 (plus postage and packing).

The illustrations are of seven unique plant habitats found on the Island of Raasay: Bog, Coast, Freshwater Loch, Limestone, Moor, Mountain and Woodland.

Size: A3

Limited edition of 300

We would love to know how you found out about this project; please let us know when you purchase an item.

Postage and packing included in the cost.
